The Galt High School Cross Country Team competed at the Sierra Valley Conference League meet at Folsom Lake College in Folsom, CA.
We had a strong showing from all of our runners.
We had three runners place in the top 10 in the Girls Freshman Sophomore 2 mile race led by Nora Werdon 7th place (17:00.51), Katie Dalton 8th place (17:02.02), and Gloria Arana 9th place (17:02.91). Mae Trull finished in 15th place (18:19.96). Nora, Katie and Glora all had PR’s.
In the Girls Varsity Race 5K race we finished third as a team and had two runners in the top 10 and Cheyenne Ulrich 6th place (22:16.39) and Emilyann Sheldon 8th place (22:53.35). We had a 3rd runner Adamary Herrera finish in 11th place (23:04.08). Catalina Mejia Beas, who is a new runner, finished in 14th place (23:44.75). Julie Sporleder rounded out our top scorers in 17th place (23:54.60). Ysabella Sosa 17th place (25:32.62), Victoria Granados 23rd place (27:33.79), and Sofia Arana also had strong races. Adamary and Catalina are new to the team and had strong showings. Emilyann, Mae. Ysabella, and Victoria all had PR times.
In the Boys Varsity Race 5k we finished third had two runners in the top 10 including Kitto Gonzales 6th place (18:06.19) and Logan Rose 8th place (18:23.68). Chase Munn was 23rd (25:57.63), Nathan Vaden was 26th (21:15.30) and Dalton Corriea (21:25.14). Kitto and Logan both PR’d and Nathan had never run at the Varsity Level.
I was very encouraged with our runners and how they performed. We had some runners who had never competed in Cross Country who were top finishers. We also had a number of PR’s in this race. We have a good mix of young runners and Varsity Runners. This was good showing by our team in a very tough Sierra Valley Conference.
The team will be competing in the Frogtown Invitational this Saturday in Angels Camp CA. This is the Subsection Cross Country Course.
